Day 7

Day 7: It’s Sundayyyyyy, officially a no-work zone  - no office calls allowed, promise! With our kitchen still living up to its “minimalist” reputation, breakfast was a gourmet bowl of Maggie noodles paired with the ever-loyal companion, ginger tea.

We hit the road around 8-8:15 am, first making a pit stop at Nag Devta temple (https://villageinfo.in/arunachal-pradesh/west-kameng/singchung/nag-mandir.html ) . Turns out this spot had a riveting backstory that made temple visits feel less like sightseeing and more like diving into local legend lore.

Then, a waterfall stop  - name mysteriously forgotten, but the water was as fresh as our collective memories of it will be (short and sweet). The highlight, however, was the Arunachal Pradesh Orchid Garden, where we became unintentional botanists, learning the fascinating varieties of these exquisite flowers.

The weather was playing dress-up too, coaxing us to shed layers as we approached Assam. Our eagle-eyed driver Rajesh then tipped us off that right beside us were the famed Kaziranga forests. And guess what? We caught sight of our very first wild rhino, along with an unplanned parade of deer and elephants, casually sauntering while we drove to our day’s accommodation  - talk about roadside wildlife!

Bonus: Our stay was top-notch, with a cool kitchen that invited culinary creativity. Lunch? Theplas, naturally. Dinner was Chef K’s masterpiece: dal rice and spicy potato curry, fueled by (what else) a robust adrak chai.

With the day winding down, we indulged in a movie night featuring "Ramji Londonwaley," catching up on laughs and stories before tomorrow’s early wake-up call for an elephant safari at 6 am. Adventure continues! Of course decent accommodation also brings out the ‘dhobi’ in us as we cleared off part of our unwashed stuff with a nice breeze and expected sunshine helping dry off the wet lot of clothes.
