Day 6

Day 6: Breakfast kicked off with K’s winning combo: veggie poha, the staple adrak chai, and a healthy dose of fresh apples and oranges, setting us up like the wholesome eaters we aspired to be. We bade a heartfelt farewell to the cozy charm of our AirBnB, ready to roll toward Bomdilla.

Our first stop: the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a soul-stirring tribute to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, who famously held off Chinese forces during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Walking through the memorial, the stories and exhibits - uniforms, weapons, and a reverence that feels almost sacred - made the city dwellers among us pause and reflect on survival, courage, and the true meaning of patriotism. This was no museum; it was a living legacy of bravery that transcends time. https://www.tourmyindia.com/states/arunachalpradesh/jaswant-garh-war-memorial.html

Next, we breezed through the engineering marvel of Sela Tunnel, marveling at how the Border Roads Organisation saved us hours and a few white hairs, then refueled with a lunch of thepla, chundo, khakra, and apples.

A couple more hours of scenic driving brought us to Bomdilla, where the local monastery and bustling market awaited exploration.

The evening concluded with the simplest of dinners  - tomato rice cooked in our shared minimalist kitchen  - a cozy end to a day stained with history and fresh mountain air.
